Bowling with Koki

Today, after an epic failure as a mom (trust me, I will be feeling the guilt on this one for the rest of my life), I took Bug bowling.  Initially, we had hoped to have A and N with us, but they both had to say no.  As we were driving to the bowling alley, I realized that Koki will be leaving us in a few days and Bug would love to have to Koki join us for bowling.  So a quick call to see if Koki was up for bowling (as we pulled into my sister's driveway) and we were off.  Bug was so excited and I think Koki was too.

We did not get to have glo bowl, where they turn on the black lights, but we had a lot of fun for almost 2 hours. Bug did not want to use the ramp to bowl with, but we did have the bumpers up.  He is very good at bowling.

Koki and I had a mini competition going- who would win.  I won the first game and then Koki won the second.  it was all fun, just hanging out laughing and enjoying the afternoon.

Bug had the best technique- throw the ball and then turn and walk away.  I realized the more I watched, the more he has the right philosophy for life, do what you can and then don't worry about what is coming next.  There is no need to watch.  let it go and move on.

Bug had to have a drink during the games.  He was sucking down his soda.

And then there was the wardrobe change, the rolling up of pant legs- too cute.

Some stealing of a hat to play around with.

He is the cutest hat stealer I know.

The handsome young men.

The gang, Bug is hanging 10 today.
I took the boys to dinner at the Mexican restaurant next door to the bowling alley (yum).  Notice anything???  I saw it when I took this picture- Bug's face has thinned out again, meaning he has grown in the last 2 days.  Sure enough, I measured him when we got home and he has grown a quarter inch (.25) since I measured him.  putting on school pants tomorrow should be fun.  I think we are going to have to go buy some new pants this week and donate the current pants to hermano's school wardrobe.

it was a good ending to an emotional day.  Bug and I may recover from my parenting blunder but it is going to take a lot of work and effort on my part.  I pretty much undermined all the progress we made over the last 2 years in attachment.  I definitely need some prayers and help.

I am worn out tonight.

Blue team striker

Bug started winter soccer season tonight.  he has been tired all week due to being back in school, but having soccer perked him up once we arrived at the building.  he loves soccer.  He needed a larger sized soccer shirt due to his growth spurt and he choose to be a blue shirt this season. He is second from the end in the picture below.

Mam and Pap tagged along for the fun

Oh no, he saw me taking pictures!

The coaches trying to control 20 kids.  There are always more kids on the first night.  By the end of season (6 weeks) there will be about 10-12 kids left.

practicing kicking the ball to the net, he was getting ready to kick hard and then run after the ball.

make new friends but keep the old ones

We have the pleasure of hosting friends tonight.  They are in town for a few days and came over to join us for dinner and playtime/conversation time.  The boys had a good time hanging out in the living room, eating pizza, watching TV (for a while) and then playing together.  Bonnie's boys are great.  I think Bug enjoyed having them visit.  Hopefully we can see them again, either when they visit again or when we head to their hometown.

There was some sword fighting

some picture taking
great smiles on all the boys.

Then the mommas got into the picture.

The boys liked the porch swing.  They found it on the way back to the car as they were leaving.

In other pictures- this is what Bug looked like this morning as we waited for the bus in 4 degree F COLD.  Bug decided that his mouth was too cold.

heading onto the bus, our normal routine begins again.  School, work, home activities.  With winter now in full force, we have more indoor activities.  The return to school was not easy on Bug, he was exhausted today when he got off the bus.  We'll see how getting up tomorrow works.

a boy and his box

We woke up to SNOW!!! Enough snow that we had to shovel the driveway (so it did not become an ice rink) and the snow plow came thru the neighborhood putting down salt on the road.  We headed to the grocery store after shoveling, because I had avoided the grocery store for the last week.  When we got there, there was no milk left on the shelf.  Our city is crazy when there is just a little snow.

Bug cleaned off his slide. he has been waiting to do this for weeks.  I am glad that we had snow while he was off school for the holiday.  Now the holiday is complete and he can head back to school tomorrow.
This afternoon, we put together my new work chair and desk.  Bug found the box for the chair to be the best part of the entire project.
 Surprise

Bug is having a great time playing in the box- yes, it has kept him busy for the last 1.5 hours.

New Year's Fun

The last day of the year dawned late for us.  We slept until 9:44 am!  I think we are going to have a hard time on Tuesday when school starts up again and we have to be up at 6:30 am in order to get ready. But until then, we will enjoy sleeping late.

Bug got a new desk and chairs and he has been enjoying playing on his computer at his desk.

We headed over to the farm on New Year's Eve.  Bug and Hermano had a great time playing with the nerf guns.

Hermano gave Bug a Hex bug (mechanically bug) for Christmas.  I can see some fun with this around Mam and Auntie Lulu (hehehe).

Hermano got the grossest thing ever for Christmas (not from us)- it is this skull that you mix drinks in- like barf, or oozing brains.  YUCK!!!!!

We had some fireworks for New Year.  I am enjoying this tradition of New Year's with Hermano and family and fireworks.

shooting at the hex bug.

The boys had a good time together, the grown ups had a great time.  It is always a joy getting together with Hermano and his parents.

We got home very early this morning and then had church a few hours later.  I took a 2 hour nap on the couch while Bug was supposed to be watching TV (really I was dozing), when I got up, Bug was sleeping on the love seat.  He slept another 1.5 hours after I woke up.  We played some games, read some books and watched our city's football team loose their game.

Tomorrow Bug and I are taking down the Christmas tree and putting together my new work desk and chair.  It has a been a good holiday season.

Bug and I hope everyone has a blessed New Year.

Love and hugs,
Deb
