We went to the zoo- how about you?

Bug and I headed to the zoo after his doctor's appointment this morning.  We were only a block away from the zoo, and we had not been to the zoo all summer.

Our happy little family

Bug is now taller than the tiger statue. He just keeps growing.

The new cat exhibit allows you to look thru full length windows at the animals- these are the tigers.  Bug's  a happy little man when he gets to see the Tigers.

so tall

Silliness

He likes the wolves too

and the cheetahs.  I think this is one of the last times Bug will be on the carousel- he was not as enthusiastic as he has been in the past.  Thankfully the train is still a huge pull for him.  I am not sure I am ready for no more trips to the zoo.

The river otter swimming right at us.

Another picture of the river otter.

2 days before school starts- some family fun

We were able to head out to the aquarium today.  I supposed to have an appointment with the doctors at Childrens for an assessment of Bug, but the doctor was sick, so the appointment was moved to Wednesday.
So a last minute substitution to our day and one we have not done in almost 2 years.
Bug was happy to be at the aquarium.  with school having started in most areas around us, we had the aquarium pretty much to ourselves.  There were people there, but nothing like coming on a school holiday, summer weekend or even a summer day before school starts.
Green moray eel curving around Mam's head.  She has the same picture of me and the Moray.
Bug up against the measuring chart of the HUGE alligator on exhibit.
It is like 15 feet long
Giving coins to the croc fund.

Bug in the sting ray tunnel.  He is never too sure about these tunnels

The sting ray- I really, really like these animals

The tortuga (turtle) Denver.  it was just after feeding time, so all the animals: sharks, sting rays, fishes, and the turtle, were looking for any food they missed.

Denver and one of the sharks

Dancing sting rays- they really did look like they were dancing thru the water.

When we went to the amusement park, Bug wanted to get his face painted, but the line was so long.  There was no line at the aquarium, so I let Bug get his face painted.

My Bat Boy.  He was so happy.  His stickers on his shirt are from the dentist this morning- he had 2 teeth sealed to prevent cavities.
Over 4 foot tall. I will have to dig up some pictures from previous visits to compare in another post.

And Bat Boy in the new penguin photo area- these are statues.

After the aquarium, we had lunch at the pizza place overlooking the plaza and then we headed to the book store.  I love bookstores.

We bought some books, headed home, rested a short while and then headed over to school for meet the teacher evening.  Bug met his second grade teacher, visited with his kindergarten and first grade teachers and dropped off all his school supplies.  One more day of summer fun and then school starts.

We are off to the zoo tomorrow, our planned finale to summer.  We'll be home mid afternoon for some rest, then dinner, bath and bedtime in preparation for school starting on Wednesday morning.
Time is flying by.

Deb

Family birthday fun

It was Bug's family birthday today.  Bug choose chocolate cake as dessert.  He helped me decorate it with M&Ms.  You can tell he is so excited that we are singing to him (he hates to be sung to, I don't know why).

Getting ready to yell at cousin Jas who blew out his candle. The yelling was more like "HEY"

Bug took a few pictures of Pap sleeping on the porch swing before dinner

HEHEHE- don't tell Pap about these pictures.

opening presents in the now infamous birthday hat.

Happy little man with his new power ranger mask.  For those that are really observant, yes that is the Nascar race on the TV.

Pablo was very tired after all the fun- this is later in the evening.  he is such a cutie.
Bug wants to be a power ranger, so we pulled out a costume that a friend loaned us and IT STILL FITS.  So Bug is going to be the green/gold ranger.  His new mask and sword go perfect with the green/gold costume Terry made.

That was Bug's family party.  We missed hermano and his parents. We got to talk to Popi, Momi Mierya, Susi and Nigua and Josslin after the party.  Bug was happy to see them, just not sure still of what to say.  He was happy to show off Pablo though.

2 more days until school starts

just a quick update

No pictures from this week, I have been too tired to just about do anything.   My doctor put me on medical leave this week, I will be out for the next 2.5 weeks.  Wednesday-Friday, I took 3 hour naps every day.  Bug was home on Wednesday (his birthday) and he played quietly and watched TV while I slept on the couch.  Thursday Bug headed back to Y camp, he only had 2 days left. Friday was his last day and he neglected to tell me there was a talent show at Y camp.

We are on the last few days before school starts: Monday Bug has another dentist appointment (sealing of his molars so he does not get cavities), and I have another doctor's appointment.  Tuesday, Bug has a doctor appointment and then I think we are heading to the zoo or the aquarium- which means I will be dead tired on Tuesday night, which means early bedtime since school starts on Wednesday (cue the happy music, birds singing, etc).  We do have meet the teacher on Monday evening.

Sunday is Bug's family birthday party.  Looking forward to the fun and the pictures.

Love and hugs,
Deb

Kid birthday party - bowling

Bug's kid party was this afternoon.  There were 14 kids, lots of adults and lots of fun. The kids got to bowl and it was so much fun to watch them.
Mam kept the kids organized (thanks Mam).

After an hour of bowling, we stopped for cupcakes, ice cream and presents.

It was a great day.

Amusement park fun

We headed out to the union picnic for my dad's local.  It has been a few years since we went to the picnic- usually it is hotter than hades on the day of the picnic.  Bug had a great time.

My not so little man- almost 7 years old

My little man, back in 2009, almost 4 years old.

Riding the roller coaster for the first time in 2009- not too sure.
Getting some kisses from Momma in 2012

Riding the roller coaster in 2012, the front seat and Mam behind us.

more moto riding

Loving the little roller coaster.  he did go on the big roller coaster with me once, but told me it was too bumpy.

Like mother, like son.  He rode the roller coaster close to 20 times.  I used to do the same thing when I was a young girl at the amusement park.  Of course, I rode every time with him today.
We had a great day.

Love and hugs,
Deb
