Motehr's Day Tea with Bug

Bug's school had "mother's day tea" today.  I could not figure out why it was after mother's day, until I drove on the lot and saw that this weekend, the church will crown Mary.  So the mother's are being honored as part of the May crowning festivities.
The kids made thumbprint cookies and fruit kabobs for the mommas.

His teacher took each child and momma's picture in the garden.  I have Bug on both sides of me, one in the yellow flower with red/pink hands and sitting beside me looking so handsome.

The flowers were for each momma in a pot the decorated for their momma.

We were treated to songs.

We were treated to the MOMMA song (think of the O.SCAR M.EYER song).

And some little men lost interest in singing toward the end

I took video but apparently it was lost when I transferred it to the computer.

It was a great day,

shock of my life

Some pictures from Friday.  Little M's mom took these, Bug is racing to 3rd base, but to me, he looks like he is dancing on the field.  I love it.

Preparing to bat.

We saw Lulu and her family yesterday, Bug was happy to lay on the floor with the dogs.  Especially Ginger.

Today, we headed over to the farm to celebrate Mother's day with the vaca family.  We missed last year with them, so it was nice to get back to the tradition we have had since the boys came home.  Bug and Hermano took huge bites right before I took this picture.  Both boys are growing.  It is amazing to see the changes in just one month.

I baked an apple pie for vaca daddy.  I put 3 hearts on the pie- 1 for the boys birth mothers, 1 for Mireya and 1 for Vaca momma and I.  3 mommas whose love has shaped the boys, held the boys and has given them wings to grow into the awesome young men they are becoming.

Hermano was enjoying the cookies.

Bug was happy to be running around

and riding little ATVs.

and climbing gravel hills

Hermano fell down right before we headed over to feed the cows at the other farm site.  He was pretty upset.   Bug was having nothing to do with the tractors.

other than looking inside.  He did not want a ride (I did), he would not let me have a ride, so I did not get a ride.  Instead I got the shock of my life while vaca daddy was giving Hermano a tractor ride (Hermano felt much better after his ride with his daddy).

My shock came as Vaca momma, Bug and I walked over to the barn to feed the cows.  Due to the rain we have had, the regular fencing was too easy for the cows to knock down.  8 cows have been out on the road. Legal the police can come and shoot any cow on the road, luckily the police near hermano's house know the cows and call vaca daddy when the cows get out.  But to prevent them from getting to the fence, daddy had to string a "hot wire" - a wire with electricity running through it - around the area the cows were in.  We got vaca momma and Bug over the wire without issue (daddy and hermano were taking a tractor ride), and then it was my turn.  I got one leg over the wire and had my had on vaca momma and the metal gate, and then I wobbled into the wire.  Oh my goodness, it was shocking- literally and figuratively.  Vaca momma says I should expect black bruising on my leg and my hand.  It probably would not have been so bad if I had not been touching the metal gate.  Bug told me I scream like a boy (too funny).
Vaca dad arrived after I was in the barn, feeding cows.  yes, I like this stuff, but I only feed the cows every few months, so it has not lost it's allure.  Hermano decided his arm was well enough to climb up the ladder to the loft.

The cows enjoying a treat.  They were not supposed to get the gluten pellets, they were supposed to get only hay- which is why we needed the tractor.

Daddy and Hermano taking the hay bale over to the area where the hay is fed to the cows.

after feeding the cows, we went to see the combine.  WHOLEY MOLEY, it is HUGE!!!!!!  I had no idea.

Bug had a good time checking it out.
I even climbed up

We also saw that house across the street from Hermano is up for sale- hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

birthday and baseball and boys with swords

I did not post pictures from Mam's birthday this past weekend.  The family came over.  Jas played foosball with bug while texting.

Bug took a nap with Pap later on.  It was cute, Bug said he was going to his room to read his bible (Pap was already resting).  When we walked back to check on bug, who loves to wake up Pap, this is the picture I saw.

Mam, happy to have everyone celebrating her birthday

after cake and ice cream, the laughter started.  Bug rediscovered his "tickle me Elmo".  Bug was falling over laughing so hard.

And he had to get his new sword to make sure Elmo stayed far away.

Today, we got in some batting practice in the front yard.  Bug and Little M are hitting the little blue white ball.

A swing and a miss- but good concentration and good form.  He is getting it.

I did some throwing practice with the boys.

Little M had some batting practice too.
He is a power hitter, when he makes full contact with the ball. He is one to watch out for on the field.

Some more fielding practice.  Yes, after 20 + years, I can still catch a ball.

After some baseball practice, the swords came out.  Doesn't he look scary????

chasing 'bad guys' out of the back yard.  I let them whack the bushes along the back fence- but Little M was eyeing my apple trees.

And finally, the coolest way to carry a sword- down your shirt.  I love this picture- they are 2 best friends. Anything Bug does, Little M wants to do too.
These 2 are going to rule the neighborhood and school in the coming years.  I am not sure A and I are ready for the adventures ahead of us.

playing at the park instead of cleaning

Today we are celebrating my mother's birthday, so Saturday, we should have been cleaning the house.  But the weather was too lovely, so I took Bug to the park to play.  The pictures show how much Bug has grown.  I will have to find the first picture of him on this slide, I think he was just as tall as he looks here standing on his knees.  WOW.  Of course he has grown another .25 inches this month, so I am not sure why I am surprised.

He begged to swing on the tire swing.  This is normally not one of his favorites, but he is growing up and this was the favorite today.

The more I spun him and swung him, the happier he was.

He did have to swing on the regular swings.  We freaked out another mom though.  Bug likes to go high, so to get him started I push hum by running underneath him.  The other mom watching was on the verge of screaming.
Bug was laughing and laughing the entire time.

When he finally slowed down, he showed me how he can hold his body straight.

He did some boat driving

And some standing on the bow.

Then he found the two brothers with swords and that was it- pirate nene came to play.  He wanted one of the swords to play with and finally one of boys let him use it.  Bug was not going to let go of it at all.  He ran around for another hour playing with the kid's sword.

he did some swinging off the 'vine'.  He was not happy when I told him that he had to give the kid  back his sword.  Bug spent the night with Mam and Pap last night so I could go to a party with friends from college.  I had not seen most of them since college.  I had a great time and so did Bug.

Well, I am off to celebrate my mom's birthday.  Bug and I would also like to send birthday wishes to Popi Carlos.

Love and hugs,
Deb
