Rocket's vacation started on Good Friday- no school for him and I took the entire day off so we could be together. He slept pretty late and then just wanted to go to the movies. We saw Power Rangers. It is not as bad as I thought it would be, but it was still pretty bad. I am looking forward to seeing the summer movies- they look to be so much better.
Saturday we cleaned house since everyone was due over at my house on Sunday.
Sunday fell apart after church- we had 3 waves of people through our house since everyone's schedule was so busy with family events. The last of the folks left at 6 pm and Rocket and I crashed. The Easter Bunny was good to him and he got some darts for his NERF gun, a new movie and a little bit of candy.
Monday we hung out at home. I had to work in the morning and then he was waiting for everyone to get home from school (every school had different breaks this year). He played outside until 8:30 with the kids in the neighborhood.
Tuesday we went to the zoo with Mam and Aunt Linda. Aunt Linda and Uncle Troy were up for the holidays from their home in Florida. Uncle Troy was with Pap and Linda hung out with us. We did not stay very long at the zoo- I was not feeling well at all and after 2 hours I was done. We did stop for ice cream with Linda. In addition, our roof was replaced on this day- lots of banging. They had to come back for 2 hours of work on Wednesday. Tuesday I had 1 meeting, Wednesday I had meetings from 8 am - 12noon. The roofers showed up at 7 am and it was straight pounding until 9 am on Wednesday.
Wednesday I took the dog and Rocket to the park for a hike. We hiked for 2 hours and had a great time. Found a trail that will be completely shaded in the summer months and that had a number of waterfalls to look at. I had 2 very worn out boys in the car with me on the way home. Afterwards, Rocket still played outside until 8:30.
Thursday we headed to the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center and learned all about slavery in America, the civil war and ongoing slavery today. We also saw a very moving exhibit on the life of Nelson Mandela. It ended with a room on Forgiveness. Very powerful.
Friday was another hang out day at home until everyone else got home and then it was outside for Rocket to play. Another evening of being out in the yard until
here are the pictures.

At the zoo- we managed to catch the end of the Zoo Blooms season. The tulips looked great, but definitely were dying out.

In the backyard by the apple tree on Easter.
My handsome little man.
The easter eggs- the new decorating technique was a failure for us. But it worked for lots of my friends on Facebook. We will try it again.
Painting pottery on Wednesday. A new pasta bowl for me
a votive holder for my room
Rocket working on a football bobble head figure for his room

down by one of the falls.
Pablo was not too thrilled to be this close to the water.
Off on our hiking adventure.
The Easter eggs in process of being dyed. They are rolled shaving cream that has food color added. they are supposed to sit for 10-20 minutes and when you wipe the shaving cream off, the color has dyed the eggs. it did not work like that. We might be dying eggs over the next few months to get the process down before next year.
Well, that is what we did over Spring Break.
Rocket is back in school today and I am back to full days at work. It was a nice little break. Now 6 weeks until school ends this year.
Love and hugs,
Deb
