Serving a tMatthew 25 Ministries and fun at the Greek Festival

The photos are all jumbled today.  We had a busy day, volunteering at Matthew 25 ministries (www.m25m.org) and heading out to the Greek Festival with J and N.

Bug and N riding the flying cars- don't they look like they are driving thru the hood?

The giant slide- the best ride at the festival.

Happy boys

Happy mommas

having some sweets at the festival- little pastry balls, deep fried, glazed with honey and sprinkled with cinnamon.

I won!!!

Going back to Thursday, this was the set up in my office, my work computer and the home computer.  The home computer had Univision on so I could watch and listen to the game while I worked on slides for a training class I am giving in July/August.  No need to worry, my boss approved of the set up.

Me, ready for the game on Thursday.
Same plan will be in place for Tuesday's game against Belgium.

This morning, we got up and headed out to Matthew 25 Ministries with some of the families from the Kids church.

Waiting to go in

Mrs. C, the kids church leader

The warehouse, we would be sorting thru clothes and taking packaging off of toiletries so they could be put into packages for disaster areas

testing out one of the sleeping mats made from plastic grocery bags.  Each mat takes about 500-600 bags to make, but they last a long time.  The mats are provided to families to keep them from sleeping on the dirt.

putting the mats in the donation box

listening to instructions

my sorting partner- we sorted thru kids and adult clothes.  There were lots of clothes to go thru.

sorting, it is a lot like folder laundry

Bug worked on taking packaging off personal goods like chap stick, deodorant, facial creams.

we took a tour half way thru our work shift, showing how M25M helps in areas devastated by natural disasters, like Haiti, or tornadoes here in the US.

where we are is the blue light, the red lights are the places in the US that have been helped by M25M. they had lights all over the world too.

back to taking packaging off chap stick.

I took Bug to lunch at Chipotle.  YUMMMMM

And then this afternoon, we headed out to the Greek Festival.

Greek Festival 2013

J and N came over today to play, have lunch and go to the Greek Festival with us.  Bug was very excited .  The boys had so much fun playing together before lunch.  They were ninjas.

We headed to the festival around 2:30.  It had been raining and storming all day.  Bug had been praying for a 2 hour window in the rain to be able to enjoy the festival and then head home.  The sun started shining and the rain cleared out- yea!!!
As we came into the festival, the kids could play games to win prizes from Kroger.  Bug and N won fanny packs- they got to carry their own ride tickets.
Plinko was the game to win.

They could win a stuff animal by throwing the soccer beanies thru the corn hole game.

And finally, the wheel of prizes.  Bug won popcorn and soda, I won a gift card, N won ice cream and Julie won pop tarts.  It was a great way to start the festival.

After getting tickets, the boys headed to the slide.  They had enough tickets for 5 rides each.  The went on the slide 2 times before heading off to more rides.

The rode the fun house- more like a jungle gym to climb thru and slide down.

The mommas watched.

The boys went on the space ships

They are up there somewhere

They were very dizzy when they got off the space ships.

N wanted to ride the motorcycles/cars, but Bug is now too tall for the little kid rides, so N really had to think about what to do.  In the end, they stuck together for one more ride on the slide.

Then some Greek food- pizza and cheese on a hot dog, before heading inside to get desserts.  baklava!!!!! Including chocolate covered baklava.  We had a great time with Julie and N today.  So glad to have time with friends.  Julie and I had a good time watching the boys, they are getting so big and acting so grown up.

We have been home about 2 hours and I can hear the thunder, more storms coming, but we got to enjoy the day.  Thank you God for answered prayers.

Love and hugs,
Deb
