Late February and early March

So- it has been quite the overwhelming month.   Between evil cold weather, kids activities, foster care expectations (from BIO mom), work and injuries- I am ready for a nice long nap.

At some point in February, I made the boy/man-child a new fleece throw blanket.  He wanted Ohio State material (the traitor).  On the good side, his buddy whose mom is a Ohio State alum, wants a Michigan blanket.  I think I can make one of those pretty quickly.

We went to Sauerkraut dinner at Aunt Laura and Uncle Darrell's church.  Mam loves this dinner as it brings back memories from her childhood.   I will take happy Mam any day.  Sis did not like it at all.  Rocket ate meat and potatoes only!

we went out to dinner with friends one night and the kids did some coloring before dinner arrived.   Rocket looks so intense while he colors.

goofy kids

Pablo spent/spends a lot of time sleeping under my computer desk.

We have had some glorious sunrises over the last few weeks.  I have been excited to have sun early in the morning.  But, the time changed this weekend and now we are back to dark in the morning- BOOOOOOO!

Pablo meeting a doggie that looks just like him.  the other dog is on Rocket's paper route. the other dog's name is Buddy.

Pablo- jumping up on me because he was done visiting with Buddy while we delivered papers.

Rocket and his buddies went to the 7th grade basketball championship game. Rocket is one of the 2 kids holding a basketball.  the 7th grade team lost (just like Rocket's team did).  But both teams had a fantastic season.

Lulu had a birthday and we made a 'butterfly' cake for her.  She loved it.

on the same day- I sliced open my finger.  you can see on the pinky finger that it is no longer curved going toward the nail.
Note: GROSS pictures coming- skip if you want.

this is the slice out of my finger.  It would not stop bleeding for 4 hours.  So Laura and I went to the ER to have it stitched.  BUT, there was nothing to stitch.

this is after they numbed my finger- so much numbing solution was injected that my finger swelled up.   It took 24 hours for the nerve blocking (numbing) solution to leave my system.  It was crazy.

see - really swollen.  You want to know how I did this- I was slicing potatoes for my sister's birthday dinner.  I was using a mandolin food slicer and it was not working too well, so I decided to use my finger to push the potato through the slicer.  Yea- not such a good job.  I sliced my finger around noon and it bled until around 4 pm.  I only went to the hospital because of the bleeding.

It is healing nicely, just hurts by the end of the day since I type on the computer all day.

On Monday, 04Mar2019- Rocket had his commitment night for high school.   3 hours of discussions to end up with signs and cake.

Rocket (in the blue jacket in the second row) with all his buddies from his school who will be going to LaSalle together.   the "L" shape is the sign for the school.

Yes, Rocket is going to a Catholic high school- he is happy and we are making it work in our budget.
I am excited that he will have so many friends there too.   Second best thing is that Mam and Pap live right across the street, so he can walk to their house after school if I can not get over to pick him up from school.

Boys with their signs!!!!
