Serving a tMatthew 25 Ministries and fun at the Greek Festival

The photos are all jumbled today.  We had a busy day, volunteering at Matthew 25 ministries (www.m25m.org) and heading out to the Greek Festival with J and N.

Bug and N riding the flying cars- don't they look like they are driving thru the hood?

The giant slide- the best ride at the festival.

Happy boys

Happy mommas

having some sweets at the festival- little pastry balls, deep fried, glazed with honey and sprinkled with cinnamon.

I won!!!

Going back to Thursday, this was the set up in my office, my work computer and the home computer.  The home computer had Univision on so I could watch and listen to the game while I worked on slides for a training class I am giving in July/August.  No need to worry, my boss approved of the set up.

Me, ready for the game on Thursday.
Same plan will be in place for Tuesday's game against Belgium.

This morning, we got up and headed out to Matthew 25 Ministries with some of the families from the Kids church.

Waiting to go in

Mrs. C, the kids church leader

The warehouse, we would be sorting thru clothes and taking packaging off of toiletries so they could be put into packages for disaster areas

testing out one of the sleeping mats made from plastic grocery bags.  Each mat takes about 500-600 bags to make, but they last a long time.  The mats are provided to families to keep them from sleeping on the dirt.

putting the mats in the donation box

listening to instructions

my sorting partner- we sorted thru kids and adult clothes.  There were lots of clothes to go thru.

sorting, it is a lot like folder laundry

Bug worked on taking packaging off personal goods like chap stick, deodorant, facial creams.

we took a tour half way thru our work shift, showing how M25M helps in areas devastated by natural disasters, like Haiti, or tornadoes here in the US.

where we are is the blue light, the red lights are the places in the US that have been helped by M25M. they had lights all over the world too.

back to taking packaging off chap stick.

I took Bug to lunch at Chipotle.  YUMMMMM

And then this afternoon, we headed out to the Greek Festival.

having fun

it is has been a while since I updated.  I tend to update on Facebook more these days. But, I need to make sure I am updating here as Bug can get to this site too.

A few days ago, Pablo decided it was too hot out front where we were playing ball, so he went into the coriopsis to get cool.

That was not cool enough, so he headed to the shade on the porch.

But he really wanted to play ball, so back out to the yard we went.

Finally, he just decide to rest in the yard.

Meanwhile, bug was playing basketball.

and doing very well!

Tonight, Bug had tennis.  It was very hot and very humid.  Bug does not look happy.

Bug is playing on the Alley Cats team for his lesson.  I love this name as it was the name of the bowling team I was on when I was his age.  So nice how life circles back around

they were supposed to work up to hitting the ball back and forth.  This is a drill for swinging at something coming toward you AKA hit the hand.

But, this was happening behind the kids- big storm coming in.  Right after this, the class was cancelled.  so 5 minutes of class this week.  Next week, more tennis fun.

Having fun at the church festival

We spent a good part of the weekend working at the church festival.  We are not members of the church, but Bug goes to school here and we want to support the school community.

I forgot to take pictures of the booth we worked at on Saturday but I remembered to take pictures once we ended our shift and started playing games and riding rides.  But first we needed some pizza t fuel our fun.

Bug rode the spinning pumpkins

and then we headed back to the booth we worked at "mad birds", Bug's buddy was working the booth and Bug needed to play.

It is sling shot with bean bags to knock down tin can pigs.

Bug won 3 penguins and a duck.  He was very happy.

We picked up one of his friends from school and hit the fun house.  the boys had a great time going thru the fun house.  Bug's friend just ran right out, but bug had to think about it.  He finally came running thru.

After that, there was no stopping him.  We ran into some more friends from scouts and school.  I think the boys ran thru the fun house for at least 30 minutes.  I finally went thru and I am happy to report that I made it thru the spinning tunnel without falling down this year.

The boys rode the pirate ship.

and then headed back to the fun house for some more running.

Bug played some more games and won mustaches.  One happy little man.

Today we were back to work the tic-tac-toe booth.  It is out 3rd year working this booth and it is always a fun time.

Big Boy stopped by to say hi.

And our friend from the 'mad birds' booth stopped by to see us again.  She worked the booth with us on Saturday.

Bug had a busy weekend and is one tired boy.
