the weekend Part 1

This weekend, I took the family to the zoo.  Saturday was very warm, almost 80 degrees F and sunny, so out of the house and off to the zoo we went.  We got a late start because of homework, resting and housework, and I think most of the city had the same idea.  But it was a good day.

We saw the new lion cubs, seen here with dad and mom.  There are 3 cubs laying in the sun behind mom.

We saw the cheetah statue, not the cheetahs though as we missed the cheetah show and the cheetahs were laying in the shade in their area.

The Ostriches were out and it was cool seeing them

The African Painted Dogs were out, the older ones and the 10 pups born over the winter.
The pups are up against the wall, in the shade.

One of the real reasons we went to the zoo, was that I wanted to see the blooms.  100s of thousands of daffodils and tulips are planted in the fall and are blooming now.  I get so many ideas for my gardens.

BB and I touched a little lizard.  it was so soft, much different then I expected.  The lizard's skin was like touching silk.

My boys.  Only 8 more weeks with BB. He will be heading home on 29June. We are trying to pack lots of things in before he goes.

The manatees were enjoying the warm waters and sun

Bug was having a rough day.  he got in trouble before we left for the zoo and the heat really did not improve his attitude.  Mam was happy to be out with us.

The African penguins were enjoying the sun.

more photos coming tomorrow.

Deb

Catching up again

Well it has been almost a month since I blogged, the drama of the computer not working right is getting old.  Hopefully this week I can get everything fixed.

BB had his first games this week for the school volleyball team.  We were not able to attend the first game due to Bug's piano lesson, but we got to attend the game last night.

Here is BB warming up with the team. The team warm up shirt says "you don't have to be great to start, you have to start to be great".  This is the team's first year.

Still warming up.  BB is the setter for the team, which is a very important role.  He also is the Libero, which means he wears a different colored shirt and can be pulled in and out of the game at any time and typically he will stay in the back row for the entire game instead of rotating.

Practicing his serve- he has a killer serve.

The team clap after each point or side out.

Team huddle/hug when they scored some points on the other team when the other team only needed 1 point to win

The team has lost all games so far.  Last night they played the number 2 team in the district and made the other team really work for the wins.  It is going to be a long season, but the team has the potential to win games.

One Friday in March, Bug had a friend over after bowling and the fish fry.

They played Pokémon and had some Pokémon cookies

Bug had his piano recital on 15Mar.

He really likes music

These were the cookies at the piano recital

And his medal for his year of piano.  He will miss next year's recital because cub scout Blue and Gold banquet is always the same day at the same time.  Next year at Blue and Gold, Bug will bridge over to Boy Scouts.

On 17Mar, I surprised the boys with green eggs for breakfast to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.  BB was very confused but he liked his fried green eggs.

Well that is about all for today.  I should have some more pictures this weekend since is it Easter.

Love and hugs,
Deb
