Y spends the night

Update 1:

They were not asleep when you called- we have the second crying session of the night- this one is more intense. Y is getting lots of love although she does not want either Bug or I to touch her. Got her calmed down- Mommas always come back is a powerful set of words..

Update #2 9:48 pm:

I hear snoring from the bedroom- this is a good sign. Y cried for 10 mintues, settled down and then cried about 10 minutes later for another 10 minutes. Too cute the snoring- it sounds like baby bears in there.

final update for the night 11:02 pm:

The bears are still sleeping, although the snoring has stopped. Y woke up once crying for you, but I rubbed her belly (she was sleeping face up) and whispered to her that I love her and momma ould be here in the morning and she drifted back to sleep. I had to take the blanket out of her mouth- she had stuffed it into her mouth- I think that was the cause of the snoring. here is a picture of them sleeping- the room was dark (nightlight is on as is the hall light)

Seriously, the final update 3:16 am:

Y has woken up 2 times- but gone right back to sleep. Bug woke up once and requested to come back to Momma's bed- which is where he is now. Momma slept alone for 1.5 hours and has not been back to sleep since Bug came into my bed. I think I am channeling my mother lately. This lack of sleep is not good. I have been out in the living room for 45 minutes and I am feeling tired. So I am going to try to sleep now.

Y came over tonight- her mom has a project going live tonight, so Y is spending the night. Bug's first sleep over. All of this post is info for T so she knows what happened and how Y is doing.

We had chicken and broccoli rice with cheese and chocolate milk for dinner. Bug ate all his and Y ate about 1/2 of hers. Y did drink 2 full glasses of chocolate milk.

After dinner- it was play time- marching and flag waving

Some TV watching

a ride around the coffee table

A ride through the kitchen and house

Some puzzle time

Pretend talking on the phone

Construction time

Having a good time

Pretending napping on the couch after eating some animal cracker cookies (Y asked to save hers and I put them in a plastic bag for her to have tomorrow)

Tucked into bed together. We read a story, said prayers and I left the room

One more picture to show you she is happy.

I left the room at 8:10 pm- Y informed me at 8:11 that she needed to go potty- I refused that request because she had just gone at 8:08. Bug informed me at 8:12 he was thirsty- I refused that request as he refused to finish his milk while watching TV. They have been in there talking off and on since I left the room. Y cried for about 2 minutes after bed for you- but I assured her that you were coming tomorrow and that she was safe and loved while she was with us tonight. Bug also was trying to comfort her- although he was apparently making her mad. I have had to ask Bug 2 times to leave her alone- as I hear her saying No and Bug lets me know he is putting a blanket on her.

They seem to quieting down now. I am going to try to get a picture of them after they fall asleep so you can see that all is well.

They did a good job sharing tonight. Bug really struggles with sharing but he is catching on. They are both good kids and are very sweet together.

Y is fine, Bug is fine and I think our night will be uneventful (knock on wood).

I am off to do some work of my own- but I will post an update before I head to bed.

Love and hugs,

Deb

Update but no pictutes

Bug is having a rough 2 days. Yesterday, after getting home, he walked into the mirror on the car as we walked into the house. Slammed right into it is more like it. He was running to get in the house and I was getting his stuff out of the car- pretty normal way of us getting into the house. So he slammed into the mirror- immediately screaming. I pick him and run into the house and put ice on his forehead where the bump is already rising. He gets lots of love and plenty of hugs and sympathy and then he is off playing.

Today- we get home from Auntie Lulu's house after work and Bug walks around the car and hits his head (in the same place) on the door handle. Now the mirror moves a little, but the door handle does not. And it hurts worst because he hit the exact same spot he hit yesterday. Lots more screaming, lots more tears, lots more hugs, ice and loving and he is off.

I cut the grass today and he played the entire time, but he was in a huge bad temper. I turned around and he was gone at one point, so I start to panic and yell for him- from the back of the house comes this wail "I just have to go potty" and he comes walking around crying. So hugs and love later I explain that I just could not see him and going inside to go potty is fine. He plays some more and I finish the grass.

he requested french toast and blueberries for dinner tonight and that is what he got. We watched CARS- his request and we read books. Actually Bug "read"one to me. He refused to let me video tape him, but he told me the story and he had it all correct. Amazing considering this is a library book and I have only read it 3 times. But he knew the words and when to turn the pages. Scary cool.

Tomorrow night Y is spending the night with us while her mom works. I am asking for pray that the kids stay safe.

Love and hugs,
Deb

Toddler Otterville with the single moms

We had a busy afternoon- playing with friends. This was an interesting day because Bug actually let me sit with the mommas and play- he could see me through the window, but I was far enough away from him that he could not easily touch me or talk to me. He played for 4 straight hours.

And this is the proof- one sacked out boy in the car on the way home. We stopped for dinner before heading home because I knew this would happened. We spent the evening cuddled on the couch watching a movie. The face painting will be explained later. Bug playing in the water- he spent a good part of the afternoon here. Birthday parties would come in and out and he would keep right on playing.

So face painting- the paint is grease sticks used in the theater productions. Bug has avoided this area all the other times we have gone to Toddler Otterville. Today, he was fascinated by the face paint. he was very seriously putting it on- it was caked on.

Half way done and so proud of himself.

Bug played in the store too. He was behind a wall and could not see me. I guess having a great time and really being into play means I am not the chief playmate any more. It was nice to sit with the mommas and talk, but it was sad not to be his choice of play mates. I think if Y and N had been there, I would have been sitting right beside him. The other mommas today all have kids who are older. It was great to talk- but disconcerting to be out of Bug's reach for 3 hours.

The first hour- we played trains- and yes I played. Bug looks so much like a little boy here. Not a baby or toddler any more.

Toddler Otterville is expanding- they are taking over the toy store they are attached to. So in the next year they are planning to have ponies!!!! Bug will love it. We also found out that they have working firetruck on site and it shoots water. Oh my. I think we will be coming regularly during the summer.

Tie Dyed teeshirts

We had a full day today. Mam and Pap came over for dinner and toddler entertainment. Pap delivered the entertainment- one watch, some afternoon sun and a toddler going nuts over the reflection on the wall. Who knew that toddlers are just like cats.

The spot on the ceiling- it is lighter white patch in the middle of the ceiling.

Bug also took Mam and Pap downstairs to play trains. it is interesting, Bug wanted to play trains today, but I was doing laundry (and yes, laundry needed to be the priority)- because I would not stay downstairs with him, he would not play with the trains. He could hear me upstairs and I was up and down the stairs doing laundry- but I was not right there. So with Mam and Pap in the house, he had a audience for his train playing and he was in heaven.

In the morning, Bug and I worked on Easter presents for Popi, Mireya, Susi, Karla and Nigua.

Tie dyed tee shirts. It was a mess - liquid every where

Wrapped up tee shirts. They have to stay this way for 6-8 hours. Now, take a good look at the amount of liquid you can see. I was thinking we would be lucky to have shirts where you could actually see various colors based on the "black" color of the liquid once Bug got done pouring the dye on the fabric

My hands after we were done. My gloves had holes in them and I ended up being the one with hands to show for our craft.

These are some of the tee shirts. I was very disappointed in the saturation of the color- or the lack of saturation as the case may be. We have one more step for the tee shirts- I hope to get that step done tomorrow and get the package out to Guatemala on Monday or Tuesday.

This is actually the shirt with the most color on it.

This one looks like it has the most, but the back is completely white.
I was very disappointed in this kit. I think we will stick to buckets filled with water and dye instead of bottles of dye.
We did have a good day. We are off to toddler otterville tomorrow with the other single moms.
Love to you,
Deb

3 years ago today and a Happy Birthday shout out

Three years ago- my life changed with the email that included Bug's referral. It is amazing to think that 3 years ago today, I was just a single girl hoping to be a momma and now I am living my dream.

So here we are- 4 years worth of pictures 2006- 2009.
27mar2009- playing at the park- enjoying the slide
Reaching for Momma

definitely outgrowing these swings

Tractor loving good time

Hanging with Momma in the car and being silly. yes, it was colder today and it is supposed to be freezing this weekend- welcome to Spring in our area.

27Mar2008- recovering from surgery. Although looking at my notes, surgery was not on the 27th. It does look like I did not take pictures last year on the 27th

March 2007- still waiting for Bug to come home. Although on 21Mar, our case was approved by PGN's first reviewer- so we were getting closer to being the family that we are now.

And these are the first pictures of Bug that I saw. they were taken in Dec 2005, but they were all I have from that time. I would have to wait until April 2006 to see what Bug looked like.

And since it is the anniversary of Bug's referral- that means it is Pam's birthday. HAPPY BIRTHDAY Pam. It is so cool that your birthday is also the day that Bug's referral came thru. Thanks for always being so supportive and so generous.
Love and hugs to you,
Deb
