last night of T Ball

Bug and Little M are lovely their scooters.  Of course, they mostly love annoying their mommas while we are out on a walk.  But that is what you get with 4 and 5 year boys.

Bug and his sword, he was waving down....

The ICE CREAM truck.  Oh it was a happy day in the neighborhood when the music of this truck was heard.  Bug and Little M were burst with excitement and anticipation

One sonic the hedgehog ice cream for Little M and one Batman ice cream for Bug- life in the summer is great.

Last night was the final T Ball game of the season.  We had just a few kids- but they did a great job.  Taking the field for the first inning.  Bug is in the red shorts.

getting instructions for playing first base from coach Will. I followed Bug around as the extra coach, for the rest of the game.  Bug was on first base for the first inning, 3rd base for the second inning and then at the pitcher's mound for the 3rd inning.

Setting up to bat.  We bat in number order, so usually Bug is early in the line up, but this week we used reverse order and Bug was the last batter.  During batting, I am the dugout coach, making sure the boys are ready, have their batting helmets and bats.  But most importantly, making sure they are not swinging the bats in the dugout or using them as swords.  yes, these are perfectly acceptable activities for 4 and 5 year boys.

warming up his swing

A hit!!!!!!

racing to 1st base- go, Bug, go!!!!!

at the pitcher's mound.  We have all the boys on the field at the same time and there is no one in the outfield.  So this means we have multiple players per position.  Bug was running after the ball all game.  He did a great job!! The boys don't actually pitch the ball as the ball is placed on the T at home plate by the coach.  But playing the position helps them know what happens.  For example, this position is one where the ball comes straight at you every hit.  So they learn to watch the ball.

Being good sports- shaking hands of the other team

lining up for the trophies- notice Mam and Pap behind them at the left.  We also had J and N come to watch us.

The boys and their trophies.
I am going to post names- just to help me remember: starting at the left:
Kyron, Cayden, Keden, Bug, Aidan S, Jackson, Colton
Missing: Nthan #14, Nathan # 13, Little M, Hayden, and Joey

I am not sure we will do T Ball again, if we do, it certainly will not be with this coach (he was in the camouflage pants in the picture of Bug batting).  But Bug had a good time.

Deb

having fun and feeling better

We headed to Indy today to see the Children's museum.  Bug was still not feeling too well this morning, he actually asked to stay home (more to watch TV I think).  But a nap in the car on the way to Hermano's  house.  Bug and Hermano had a great time chatting on the trip to Indy and Hermano's mom and I enjoyed the time in the car to talk too.
The plan for the day was the planetarium, the trains, the dinos and the race car.  I made the mistake of looking at the website and saw that the museum had an exhibit on the Terra cotta warriors from China and I wanted to do that.  We ran out of time.
At the train exhibit, Bug was not into smiling yet.

But after the planetarium, he and hermano were ready to play and smile.

We saw, this awesome glass sculpture - LOVE IT!!!!!
at the bottom of the museum, you could sit on a slowly spinning seat (Bug on it) and look up thru the sculpture which goes up 4 more floors to the top of the museum.

We found the dinos, though the boys liked the toys best.

They did some digging for "fossils"

They got to hold a real dino bone!!

They played with the dino nests.

And they tried to hatch eggs
There was some dino dressing up- love the tail.

some climbing around

SPIDERMAN was seen

This is the closest I got to the Terra Cotta Warriors.  There is always next time for this exhibit.

Bug liked the horse

This the upper part of the sculpture

The race car - a huge hit for Bug
 And Momma!!!!
We took the boys to the play area and they had a blast.  This hand cranked train would have kept Bug busy all day.
But then he found some more things, pipes to crawl through, bobcat skid loaders to play with, etc.

And of course, we had to take a carousel ride.

My happy boy and me

Teddy and Corduroy- the boys' bears, taking a ride too
The picture of the day- Bug took a little nap on the carousel.  too cute.

The transformer, Bumblebee, in the main entrance area.

The boys and the dinos outside.

I let Bug get a gift at the museum, he choose a Bumblebee mask- perfect with the statue
And finally, on the way home after playtime and dinner with Hermano and his family- a sleeping Bumblebee boy.

The best part of the day- spending it with my boy and our friends.  It was a great day.

week recap and some giant bugs

It was a long week in Boston and even longer getting home.  But meeting Mark W. in the hotel was lovely

The storey about getting home: My flight, along with 2 colleagues, was due to leave Boston at 7:05.  We got to the airport by 5:30 and found out they were cancelling flights due to lightning in the area.  The airline rebooked us for flights in the morning, mine was 6:15 am.  We got some hotel rooms close to the airport and that was all.  I had to get up at 3:30 am for my flight, so I worked until 10:30 and then went to bed.  I got up, got organized and dressed, checked out and then checked in for my flight- and found out I was now on the 8:30 am flight to Philly!!!!!  Not knowing what happened, I headed to the airport and found out that all the early morning flights were cancelled because the pilots had to be off duty for 8 hours before they could fly again.  At 9 am, my flight to Philly took off and I finally got home at 2 pm on Friday.  I was exhausted.  I took a nap for 1.5 hours hoping to be awake enough to pick up Bug from summer camp and be ready for his evening T Ball game. I was barely awake.  Thankfully Bug's T Ball game was cancelled due to the bad weather that arrived here Friday night.  We ended up loosing power for 2.5 hours and Bug and I went to bed at 7:30 pm.  I spent the weekend sleeping as much as possible.  I am going to bed early tonight too.

This is the hotel room I stayed in for one night- very nice. Even the bathroom rocked.

On Saturday, Bug and Little M played for a good long time in the yard- basketball, scooters, bikes, etc.
Both boys were happy to be able to play again.

We took Little M and his mom to our backyard to see our first little apple and to have fresh strawberries from our garden.

After church today, I took Bug out to one of the local parks to see a 'giant bug' display.  All the bugs are sculptures.  Bug loved it.  The park also has a children's garden and Bug was very happy playing in the children's garden.
We will definitely be back to this park again.

 The fairy garden

Bug, the dragon and Bug's dragon face.

Bug and first bug- the damsel fly
Momma and Bug, having a great time.
 pumping water
 Honey bee on the sunflower

But really having a great time together
In order to get a tattoo, Bug had to pretend to be a butterfly and find food for his colored butterfly wings- this was an activity the park had, Bug was not too excited.  But he wanted the tattoo.  So this is my mariposa boy.

 The assassin bug

walking/running the mediation path.  I wanted to do one of these in the backyard, but then I decided being a momma was a better choice and instead I have a playset in the area I would have put in this type of path.

 giant toadstools.
Such a handsome little man- mi hombrecito
 being  silly

and hanging with the toads.  We ha a great time together today.  It was a good ending to the weekend, and gave us special time together to help start our week off great.  Hopefully, I filled up Bug's tank with Momma time, so he makes it thru this week as I go back to work and he goes back to summer, which he loves.

Love and hugs,
Deb
