COVID-19 updates

On  12Mar, we were alerted that school would be "cancelled" as of 16Mar and Aidan would move to online school due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  At the time, we only had 1 or 2 known cases here in Ohio.  But the governor was being cautious.
The boys and I prepared for this change.

That weekend, Kalle's parents decided to bring him home as soon as possible.   So we also started packing for his return.

In between making all the changes, I decided since the boys would be home, they would start 'cooking with momma' classes.   This is one of the first meals- biscuits and sausage gravy,  and fruit (breakfast for dinner).   Aidan did great making this dinner.

Pablo and I went to the vet on Friday, 13Mar.  this was already scheduled before the shut down was announced.  Pablo needed his nails trimmed.  He looks so scared here, but he also looks handsome in his "Mexican" blanket vest.

Cooking with momma night 2- chicken, mac and cheese, and veggies.  Again, Aidan did a great job.

Pablo- just chilling in the house.

homemade cinnamon rolls for Kalle's last Sunday with us. His parents booked a flight home on Tuesday, which then got cancelled and then he got a flight on Monday, so we were rushing around to get everything packed

Kalle heading home.  So sad his year got cut short, but so glad he is home with his parents now.  IF my kiddo was overseas right now, I would want him too.

Tuesday, 17March, online school started for Aidan.  this is him working on his school work- the view from my desk

Me at my desk- he is in the background

Wednesday, 18Mar, I had to take one of the other AFS kids to the airport.  His host family refused to take him (so sad).
He was sad to be leaving.  When he finally got home, he found out he was in automatic 14 day isolation- he could not even see his family at the airport.  He was not happy when he found that out.

Pablo and his 'baby"- he ripped the head off his alligator.

On 19Mar, life changed completely.  I got a call from my parent's neighbor- my dad had been taken to the hospital on Wednesday and my mom was home alone.  Since she has Alzheimer's it is not good for her to be alone.  I picked her up and brought her back to my house.  Dad is going to be in the hospital for 4-6 weeks after having surgery on 18Mar to fuse his spine (from the fall).   So Mom is living with me.  these are our little German hats that Laura and I had when we were little- I found them when helping mom organize somethings.
