4th tooth lost and playing outside

Bug pulled his 4th tooth today- yes he did it all by himself.  And, his top middle left tooth is now loose.  The tooth fairy maybe visitings us in Gutemala this summer.

We have had a very warm winter.  This week, we have been playing outside and enjoying the weather.  Bug wants to practice soccer evey day so he can be better in his soccer games (yea for him figuring out that practice will help him and wanting to practice).  So we have gone out the last 2 days to practice in the front yard.  Of course, hehad to have some scooter time first.

That's the excitment here.

Deb

An unexpected visit from friends and Pinewood Derby

Friday afternoon, I received a call from a friend saying that they would be at my house in 2 hours.  I was expecting them in over the weekend, just not on Friday.  They ended up coming in 30 minutes earlier than they said, so they were at the house when Bug got off the bus.  The living room turned into play ground central with the 3 kids.  There was some coloring, some nerf gun shooting and definitely lots of fun.

Even the little munchkin got into playing with the nerf guns.  She had more fun putting the "bullets" then firing it.  But she definitely was happy when the guns were fired ans she could go get the bullets.

This morning, Bug had his first pinewood derby.  His car has the pirate flag on the back, 4th from the right.
I have to give a shout out to the dads in Bug's pack.  During weigh in on Friday night, they were sharing tools and helping everyone to have the best cars for the race today.  One dad helped me by routing out the bottom of Bug's car to put the weights in, another shared the graphite powder, I shared super glue, 2 of the older scouts decided I needed help screwing in the weights.  It was a great experience, everyone helping, no one hoarding tips, all so the boys could have a great race on Saturday.

These are the senior boys cars- yes, they are very experienced in car building.

pack master Jim, testing the track

The trophies- there are 3 speed awards at each level, one design award, one originality.  for the tigers, there was one extra award for the best sportsman

Bug and one of his pack mates standing on the award stand.

One of the Tigers in training (little brother of one of the tiger scouts), his shirt never matched his face.  I thought it was cute.

The Tigers, ready for their races.  Each car races on all 4 lanes.  With 8 Tiger scouts, we had 5 heats.

Bug's car placed 1st, 3rd, 3rd in his heats.  Overall in the Tigers, his car was 4th- by just a hundredth of a second.  He was disappointed, but as I explained to him, not everyone wins and we learned a lot about what to do for next year.  He is already planning his car for next year.
Afterward, he was one worn out Bug as we went shopping.

It was a busy day, a great day and a day filled with lots of fun.

Mini vacation 4- celebrating Lulu's birthday

After sleeping in late, doing some laundry, cleaning house, going to the grocery store, and going to the library, we had the family over to celebrate Auntie Lulu's birthday
Bug still does not like singing Happy Birthday

Laura was stabbing  Jason with the fork to keep him away from the cake while we were singing and then Jason leaned in and blew out the candles.  Classic!

Laughing so hard over this coup

It was a good party- lots of laughing, lots of family kidding, and cake.

Now back to the real world0 work and school.  But we are counting the days to Guatemala.

Love and hugs,
Deb

mini vacation Day 3- the last day on the road

Bug and Mam are heading out to fill up the coolers with ice for the drive home.

We detoured on the way home to see cousin Jason play in a competition.  It was not much of detour, and it was lots of fun.  We sat thru the highschool percussion lines  in order to see Jason.

The Tate's Creek ensemble was 5th in the last group.  This is Jas and the other guy in the pit, preparing to come on to the floor for set up.

Set up.  Jas told me today that he thought I was some professional photographer taking pictures, then he looked up and saw me.

Preparing to play.
After watching the show and not staying for the awards, we finished the drive home. It was a nice get away, but I was happy to be home so I could sleep in my bed.

Deb

mini vacation Day 2- evening

We spent Saturday evening visiting with one of the other families whose son was foster by Popi, Momi Mireya, Susi,Karla and Nigua.  The boys are about a year apart in age, but Bug is now slightly taller.  When Bug first came home, we recieved boxes of clothes from this family that their son had outgrown.  Now I could be sending clothes to Hermano and this young man.  Although, the reality is that Bug and young man are wearing the same size.

The boys played catch with the "angry bird".  The game of catch really looked like- hit your friend as hard as possible with the bird.

Bug found the rocking horse and before I walked over, he looked so cute on the rocking horse.  Then he saw the camera and had to give me this face.

See, the boys are pretty much the same height.

This is how they started the wrestling matches that finished out their evening.

Mr. Bob had to get involved.

going in for the grab.

The pile on

and that was how we spent the evening.  A great time, with good friends, watching the boys playing and the grown ups talking.
