Homecoming- Junior Year

The boy, or maybe I should start calling him the young man, had homecoming tonight.  There is a story about buying the suit that I will save for another day.

But here he is all cleaned up and ready to go.

He is Lukas' running mate when Lukas (Falco) runs for EU President or Prime Minister of Austria.

He took Y to homecoming.  Y is one of the local Guatemalan adoptees.  They reconnected this year and he asked her to go.  We have not seen her for 3 years or so.  Come to find out she swims on a team with a few of the boy's friends.  It is a club team, not a school team, so we have never gone to a meet.

Y and her mom T who is also a single mom.  She is raising a lovely young woman.

The kids wanted to have Tortilleria Garcia for dinner, so off we went to Northside for dinner  The plan was for them to meet up with friends, and mam and I would get dinner at the same place, but walk 2 doors down for adult beverages with another momma.

The kids are set for dinner and have space for their friends to arrive. Off mam and I go to Brinks Brewing.

My dinner (mam had tacos and a diet coke).  I only drank 1.5 of the beers in this flight.  the pink one and the darker one next to it.
The others were either YUCK or just not as good as the other 2.

Me and the boy.  His dress shoes and puffy hair make him look taller, but he is still a half inch shorter than me.

After dinner, I took the 4 kids to a friend's house for pictures.  this is the group of kids going to homecoming.

The lovely young ladies

The handsome young men

Showing off their modeling skills.  The boys still has it from modeling in the backyard at Mireya's house.

I picked the boy and his date up at 10:30 from the dance.  Apparently the dance was not too good because the music was bad.   The kids then went to another friends house for an "after party hang out" for an hour.

I think overall they had a good time.   Can't believe these kids are juniors already.

Love and hugs

1000 posts on this blog- fitting this one should be about changes around our house.

WOW- 1000 posts, I can believe it.  As usual life goes on for our little family.

Rocket is settling into his freshmen year of high school.  He likes football- whether he loves it or not depends on how much playing time he gets.

This is our band (me, Aidan and his friends) walking into the first varsity home football game.  Aidan is on the freshmen team and has to be there for volunteer hours per the coaches.

The boys- Evan, Elisha, unknown, Emmaus, Paul (black shirt) and Aidan

Adding in Evan's little brother and the boys showing the Lancer sign

My handsome young man

Thursday, 12Sep, step one of our new adventure started.  Tito arrived from Italy.

Aidan (#40)  look played a game and he finally got to play in his game last week. In the first game he played 2 minutes, the next game he played 0 minutes (he was so upset), this is the third game and he played most of the game and this week he played 0 minutes again.

I have the yellow card in my face, but this is the group I sit with at Aidan's games.

last week, Aidan was also the extra point kicker.  He kicked 3 extra points.

Friday- step 2 of the changes arrived- Kalle from Finland.

Saturday- Aidan had his first Homecoming dance.  He looks so handsome.  He took Mary to HC.  She seems nice.

the boys.

the girls .L and M and Mary the girls are in order of who they went with to the dance.  L left her date as soon as they got to the dance.  M tried to run all the activities, which left a sour taste in my mouth.  Of course this was after Aidan initially asked her out, she said yes, then she said she could not go because she did not want to see one of Aidan's friends who she previously dated (they all went to school together), so Aidan started asking others to the dance, M asked a different boy and then she found Aidan his date (Mary).  I don't like her at all and I am hoping he never goes to another event with her.  All the girls were trying to make the dance all about them.  I am over this group of girls.  Maybe Aidan will go stag to the next dance and hang out with all his buddies?????

Kalle and Tito on the first day of school for them- Monday, 16Sep.  Almost a month after school actually started

Just a picture of Tito taking a picture of football game last Friday.

The welcome tweet from the school on the boys starting.  So cool.  the local public school has done nothing for my exchanges students in the past. The way LaSalle has welcomed these boys is fantastic.

a cool picture of the boys before the dance.

Tito again- he loves photography

This week's game for Aidan- 18Sep.  He played 0 minutes.  He was going to be kicking the extra points again, but the team never scored during the game.

More catching up again

I found pictures on another camera, so we are going back a few weeks to catch up via these photos.
September 20, we attended the LaSalle Homecoming game. The homecoming parade goes right past Mam and Pap's house, so with a friend, we headed over to sit on the stairs there and watch the parade before the game.
BB's friend Yuno, Bug and BB having fun before the parade

Silly boys

Drummers!!!

Color guard, including the older sisters of one of Bug's classmates.

Bug and his buddy from school

BB and Yuno eating candy

The sky was incredibly beautiful at sunset

Love it

We celebrated Uncle Darrell's birthday the following weekend

Half a century old.  So excited to see him celebrating with us.

There was another soccer game or 2 or 3.

Dancing at the walk-a-thon for school

I took the boys to the Asian food festival a few weekends ago.  BB loved this mural on the side of the public broadcasting station

The boys

The festival was at the park and there are some musical instruments to play.  BB was not into it, but Bug was.

There was some play time at the playground after we had some food (Korean burritos, curry noodles, fruit and Chinese pancake).

And then we found the cannon.  This from the US Farragaut (circa 1860s)

Handsome young men

Are you in there?

Some Frisbee playing

BB attended Peterloon, which is a Boy Scout camp.  These are his pictures- apparently there was a helicopter to see.

Lots of Boy Scout troops attended.

Some games of chess were played

Friday night, this week, 17Oct, BB and I attended the homecoming parade for his high school.  Bug was spending the night at a fiend's house.

The parade starting

The matching band.
I was worried that BB was not making friends at school, but as every car, float, group passed us by, BB was calling out to people and they were waving back and throwing us more candy.  Oh yes, as the groups/cars/etc go by, they throw candy to the crowd.

See, coming right at us.

This is A who drives BB to school each morning- she looks great.  So excited to see her and her dad in the parade.

Big Boy even walked in the parade

The paraded ended with horses

Our candy haul.  BB was amazed.  I took him to the game and then headed home for an evening alone.

Bug had his last regular season game today and this was the storm front coming toward us.  Bug's team won 3-2 today.  next weekend is the league tournament, but we already had plans, so Bug will miss it.  If his team makes it out of the league tournament, they move on to state tournament the weekends of 08Nov and 15Nov.

Love and hugs,
Deb
