bathroom demolition and other stuff

While this winter has been pretty warm, there has been a few days here and there where the temperatures were below 0 Celcius.  On those days, little man and I had to be bundled up at the bus stop.   I am very grateful that Spring is coming. Just a another few weeks.

Using the good china for dinner one night.

Another cold day at the bus stop- we even had some snow.

Pictures from the first game of the basketball tournament at the end of season.  This is warm ups, on Saturday 20Feb.

Last weekend, 27Feb, we went to the nature preserve near us because they were having maple sugar days.  They show us how maple syrup is made.  here, the sap from Maple tress is being boiled down.

Another vat of boiling maple sap.

Even Pablo got to go with us.

Little Man is learning how to tap the maple tree (in this case a stump).

Pablo is sniffing the smells of the preserve.

The weather was nice enough that the turtle came up to son himself on a log.

February's picture of the boy and the dog walking in the preserve.

These guys are demonstrating how maple sap would be harvested back in the 1800s.  this is a small sugar shack.

Sap dripping into the bucket.

On 28Feb, we celebrated Auntie Lulu's birthday.

blowing out the candles.

today, 05Mar, Little man and I started the bathroom demolition.  Unfortunately, we did not get much more done than this.  The top part of the shower tiles were on regular drywall, but the bottom half is on cement board.  This means, we would have to punch through the cement board to get the tiles off.  We will have to let the plumbing team rip out the rest on Monday.  I think I might have to go work at the library on Monday, because it is going to be loud.

Using the sledge hammer

this is a piece of tile with the dry wall on it.  It is much thicker than I expected and we found some that clearly had dry wall mud (adhesive) dumped on the back to hold the tiles up.

taking out the soap dish.  this is all we were going to do on this wall.  this wall has all the water pipes in it and I did not want to risk hit/bursting a pipe.  Both bathrooms have pipes in this wall.

We spent about 30 minutes busting out tile.  I am going to use the broken up tile to make garden stepping stones.  One way to recycle and reuse.

love and hugs,
Deb
