Snow, cold, fish fry and pinewood derby

we have had an interesting week, the boys have been off all week due to public holiday (Monday), snow (Tuesday and Wednesday), and record low temperatures (Thursday and Friday).  They need to go back to school on Monday for my sanity and their sanity.   Today we had low temperatures the broke a 130 year old record, it was -12 F this morning.  Cold!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday day, to give the boys a break and let them burn off some energy, I took 4 hours of vacation time and took them to the Y for swimming and a work out.  They were happy to get out of the house and swim.  Wednesday after work, I took the to the sledding hill and let them play in the snow for 45 minutes.  I got too cold after that for us to stay longer.  We might get out on Sunday for some more sledding.  We are expecting 4-6 inches of snow tonight/tomorrow.  I am so ready for Spring.

Tonight, due to the snow coming tomorrow, bug's Cub Scout pack held the pinewood derby.  Bug did most of the work on his car, he painted, he sanded, he drilled holes for weights and he put the wheels in.  His car placed 3rd in the 4 races he was in, but did not place overall.  He was disappointment, but he did a great job.  I think next year he will do fine in his last race as a Cub Scout.  You can tell his is a car made by a 9 year old, versus some of the cars he competed against where you can tell the dad or a parent did most of the work.  I am proud that he wants to do the work and does the best he can.  Unfortunately, one of the wheels broke off after the race.  Bug was pretty upset about that.

We are having BB's family party on Sunday.  It will be the party with Jas, uncle Darrell, Auntie LuLu and mam.  Uncle Dave usually has to work all weekend and Pap is still not talking to me or Bug.  Over a year now that he as not talked to us.  His lost.  Bug misses him as do I.  Perhaps one day he will talk to us again.

Pictures coming in the morning as it is taking forever for the photos to post to the area where I can pull them into the blog.

Love and hugs,
Deb
