The new birthday hat. 

Jas turned 20 today.  He asked for a specific cake to surprise his mother.  Unfortunately, Lulu did not come for the birthday.  Oh well, we had a good time.

4 layers, lemon and orange flavored, multi colored.  Pap did not like this cake.

We picked strawberries this evening, there were lots out there.

4 more days until vacation.  This week is either going to drag or speed by way too fast.

Parish Festival with Friends

We headed out to the the local parish festival tonight- it is at the school that Bug attends.  We worked the festival last night, helping out at one of the kid game booth.  Because we worked last night, Bug earned half the cost of an unlimited ride band.  So, we called some friends and headed over.  We waited until 6:30 to go to the festival because it was very hot and humid today.  I heard it was supposed to be as hot as 93F, and  I think I heard that it got to 97F.  I knew it would be slightly cooler in the evening.  Still Julie and I packed water bottles for the boys and we made sure we too rest breaks.

We played some games and then took a break at the playground.  Bug won a pirate sword and N won a blow up hammer that squeaks.

Our last ride was all 4 of us on the hurricane- it spins and goes up and down.  Bug loved it. 

N loved it at the end- though he was the most excited to ride it before it started up.

We took the boys to McDonald's to cool down and get cold drinks, then we headed home.  Bug was asleep in minutes after we finished books and prayers.

I think this festival has made it onto the list of things to do each summer.

San Diego - Day 3

Hi Bug-

It was another busy day here at my meetings.  We worked from 7 am until 4:30 and then we had a team dinner.  Here are some of the team on our dinner cruise.

Momma- on the ship after dinner.  We cruised around the harbor.  We got to see sea lions (I will have pictures of them when I get home) and lots of Navy helicopters.  It was a good cruise.

I am very tired now, I have finally adjusted to the time difference here and the lack of sleep has caught up with me.  I have to get up early tomorrow for a training before the meeting starts.  I love you lots and I can't wait to see you again.

San Diego Day 2

Hola mi Hijo- It was so good to talk to you tonight.  I am glad that you have no homework this week and that you are having a good time with Mam and Pap.  This is what the weather looked like outside my hotel this morning.  The fog stayed around until lunch time and then it looked like

this.  Very bright and sunny.  Unfortunately, it was almost 7 pm before we finished work tonight, so it was foggy again when we left for the restaurant.

At the restaurant, we had a table right by the window, so I got to watch the waves come in.

After dinner, we went down to the ocean and walked in the water for a few minutes- it was getting colder and dark.  I am very happy to have gotten to walk in the water.

And, then the big wave came crashing in and I got pretty wet.  I was loving it.

Tomorrow is another long work day.  But just 2 more days and I will be home with you.

San Diego Day 1

Hi Bug, I hope you had a great day in school today.  I know you are reading this on Monday, but these are pictures from Sunday.  When I got to San Diego, it was the sunny with blue skies.  There was a cool breeze.  But as we drove to the hotel, I could see the signs of drought along the way.  Everything looked brown and like it catch fire in a second.  So sad.

The hotel is very nice.  If the clouds/haze had not come in, you would be able to see the ocean on the horizon.  I had dinner on the terrace with 2 friends from work, we loved the fire pit.  I think we need one of these at home.

We took a walk out to see the ocean- unfortunately there was a golf course between the hotel and the ocean.  We took our chances since it was late in the evening.

The ocean!!  Unfortunately, it was wayyyyyyyyy down the cliff.  But, I could hear and see it.  Monday night I get to see it up close.

MA and R - we have decided what happened on the golf course stays on the golf course.
