giving back, soccer state playoffs, and 4th grade zoo trip

as usual, catching up on things we have done over the last few weeks.  We put together Operation Christmas Child presents.  these were donated at church and will be shipped overseas to children via Samaritans purse to be distributed.

I think the boys enjoyed putting together the boxes.  We filled them with tee shirts, socks, pencils, coloring books, tooth brushes and some candy.

Bug's team made it to the state championship tournament the weekend of 07Nov.  They were eliminated by a team that won based on a hand ball that the referee refused to call.  Our coach was almost thrown out of the game and many of the parents were upset.  I was a field supervisor for the game and it was hard to watch our team loose due to a ref not doing his job.  The boys played so hard.

Today, I went with Bug's class to the zoo.  The temperature was 35 degrees F (about 1 degree C). we were the only ones at the zoo.  It was so nice to be able to see the animals, walk around, and enjoy ourselves with the kids without being worried that we had lost sight of one of the kids in a crowd.

Bug is still a turkey vulture.  All the kids in the group I chaperoned did this pose.  All but one was a turkey vulture.

The alligators were enjoying the warmth in the Reptile house.

The white tigers were looking for food.

Faces are hidden on purpose here, but they are wearing extra gloves I brought in case some of the kids needed extra layers.

The Bengal tiger was growling behind the kids

The kids decided to get in on Bug's other mandatory picture at the zoo.

There are some silly kids in his class.  bug fits right in with them all

Watching the snow leopards lick each other - in 4th grade speak, the leopards were "kissing: and it was "gross".

Big Manatee

The kids and the little manatee

The peacock that tried to come inside to join us for lunch.

The polar bears woke up after lunch and the kids loved seeing them

The 4th grade monkeys.  Mrs. Miller and I were chaperoning 8 kids around.  They are a great bunch.  I really enjoyed seeing the zoo with them.

Bug and I on the jungle trail.

We never made it to the playground, but there was plenty of playtime.

the Bushbaby was licking the glass by B's face.  She was in heaven.

Our little group at the end of the day.

More pictures later tonight after the school skating party.

Love and hugs,
Deb
