going home- 2015 trip to Guatemala part 1

we headed back to Guatemala on Saturday, 26Dec.  A treat for all of us, was flying first class (the only seats avavilable when I booked the trip back in September).  I will say, first class on a Delta flight to Guatemala is nothing like first class on other flights I have been on in the past (for work).  We did like the food, but missed having the option to watch our own movie/tv like we have had on United in the main cabin/class.

Vulcano Agua (Water) from the hotel when we arrived at 4 pm.

Volcano Fuego (Fire) from the hotel room at the same time.  We could see both volcanos from our room, I would check them each morning.  It was interesting to see them at 6 am in the morning and then have them shrouded in clouds by 7 am.

Fuego on Sunday morning.  Agua was completely covered by clouds.  On Saturday, we swam in the pool for a little while before the sun went down and had dinner and then went to bed by 8 pm.

Sunday started with Rocket's foster family coming to see us.  We got to see Popi, Momi, Susi, Karla, Karla's husband David, David's nieces Jossi and Diana.  We did not see Susi's husband, Joel or Nigua on this trip.

Gifts from S's family for the family.

Hermano's picture being shared within the family.

After sharing gifts we brought down, we headed out to Parque Florencia - on the way to Antigua.

Rocket, Popi and David played 3 on 3 soccer with some guys in the park.

One of Susi's favorite flowers

After playing soccer, we walked back up the hill so Rocket and Jossi could ride horses.  Susi was telling us that she was cold, Mam and I were telling her the weather was great.

Karla and Diana

And David.  This is a great picture.

Popi

Me and Rocket.

Jossi rode first.

Rocket was so happy to ride a horse finally.  He has been waiting since our last trip to Guatemala when he was too small to ride a horse and had to ride a donkey.

Susi rode behind him, becuase the horse leader did not speak English and Rocket does not speak Spanish.

Mam and Momi watching from across the road.

Jossi riding again.

Karla took Diana for a ride.

We went into Antigua, to stop at Finica Filedelphia for coffee for some friends hee in the states.  We walked along the main street.  There were tons of people in Antigua- too many people actually.  I was quite overwhelmed.

Rocket on Calle del Arco (street of the Arch)

Happy little family on Sunday evening.
La vista was closed ofr remodeling, so we ate at Strikers.  In the morning, the La Vista staff had the buffet set up and in the evening, it was Striker's menu.  I did get sick of the food at Srikers, but I think it was really the disappointment of not having La Vista open so I could sit on the veranda each day.

Monday, we went to Zona 14 to Metro Bowl for some bowling.  It was the first time for Popi, Momi and Jossi.  Neither Karla or Susi was able to come becuase they had to work.

They turned on the black lights and the place went wild.

After bowling 2 games (Popi won one and I won the other), the kids got to play video games. Of course Rocket headed for hte motorcycles.

Jossi looked for other games to play

Popi and I played a defensive game of air hockey (no pictures), then Jossi and Momi played a game too.

this is what happens to one 10 year old boy after playing hard all day.

One smartly dressed Bug on Wednesday.  The rest of the pictures are on the phone and I will get them posted up later this evening.

Love and hugs,
